MANNY PEREZ IS STRUGGLING TO MOVE ON FROM "WASHINGTON HEIGHTS" IN 2002 INDIE HORROR!

Washington Heights is a focal neighborhood drama about an aspiring comic book artist trying to leave his town's roots in the rearview. Then his father is paralyzed and consequently has to deal with caring for his dad and running their little convenience store. Excellent acting is just one of this film's many great points and overall it's a huge winner. Using my Pinewoods Rating System, Washington Heights gets Three & 1/2 Pinewoods....The Horror!!

Washington Heights | Film Review | Slant Magazine

In Washington Heights, everyone nurses a broken dream. With one bodega on every block, personality is a major selling point here. Eddie Ramirez (the great Tomas MilĂan) is a proud Dominican immigrant who gives back to the community: men play dominoes outside his store; the ladies don't have to pay their tabs; and jobs are made readily available to Cuban refugees "just off the boat."

THE HORROR!!
