Like a lot of Mr Burns' films, this one flies below the radar mostly undetected. As Edward Burns films go, this is fairly good to decent entry in his canon but I'd admit I'm a huge fan. As a Christmas film, it scores high for those looking for depth in acting and strong family meaning, iow a break from the typical Xmas fluffy fluff...Have A Horrific One there all around the world. The only good, solid movie to open this weekend is a holiday-themed piece shot through with humor and heartbreak. No bull. And low on sappy. Props to Edward Burns, the writer, director and star, who goes back to this Irish-Catholic roots and the 1995 debut film that put him on the map, The Brothers McMullen .

The gang of usual suspects, from the wonderful Connie Britton to Michael McGlone, is all back in this amiable but uninspired ensemble comedy Year: 2012 Director: Edward Burns Studio: Tribeca Film Actors: Kerry Bishé, Connie Britton, Edward Burns At a certain point-say, four films into the Ed Burns oeuvre-being disappointed is no one's fault but your own.
