THE TAKING OF PELHAM 1-2-3 1998! - SAY WHAT? MADE-FOR-TV VERSION AN OBSCURE HORROR

A Canadian-American joint production, most fans of the original book and movie don't even know of this 1998 version's existence. Kept to a brisk 90 mins, this version stays surprisingly faithful to the original with most of the key dialog kept in place. The camera work and editing is excellent. Now for the bad news- both Vincent Donofrio and Edward Almos fail to bring anything original whatsoever to their respective roles which really bogs it down. The substitution of a female for one of the 4 hijackers is kind of interesting but not necessary. Using my Pinewoods Rating System, I give this one Two Appropriately Mediocre Pinewoods.....The Horror!!

Reel Toronto: The Taking of Pelham One Two Three | news | Torontoist

Toronto's extensive work on the silver screen reveals that, while we have the chameleonic ability to look like anywhere from New York City to Moscow, the disguise doesn't always hold up to scrutiny. Reel Toronto revels in digging up and displaying the films that attempt to mask, hide, or-in rare cases-proudly display our city.
